BeXfactor takes centre stage!

Twenty vocalists and musicians, chosen from more than 100 young people who auditioned for BeXfactor will take to the main stage at this year's Danson Festival.

BeXfactor - the Borough wide talent contest that kicked off in March of this year progressed to special workshop sessions in May and June where they were tutored by professionals from the music industry.

The final group of musicians and vocalists have now been split into bands ready to perform alongside world class musicians, The Allstars and headline star Jocelyn Brown.

The most promising of BeXfactor musicians will be awarded scholarships at the Point Blank Music College. Voted 'Best Music Production and DJ College' for six years, Point Blank specialises in the delivery of creative and media courses and activities designed for and in consultation with young people. In 2009, Point Blank teamed up with Bexley Council to run the BexFactor, providing expert Music Production, Singing & Song writing and Performance tuition to talented and motivated young people. Rob Cowan, CEO of Point Blank, says, "It's been fantastic to see so many talented young people develop their skills on this project. It's a unique opportunity to work with some of the UK's top musicians, and I'm really looking forward to the performance with Jocelyn Brown at the Danson Festival this summer."

Phil Ramacon has been recording, arranging, writing and touring professionally for over 25 years, with a whole host of artists including everyone from Jamelia to reggae legends Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff. He co-wrote "Buffalo Stance" with Neneh Cherry which was nominated for both an Ivor Novello award and a Grammy.
